Privacy Policy

Effective Date: January 2025

Last Updated: August 2026

Steadie is committed to protecting your privacy. We do not collect your name, email, contacts, messages, or any personal content. However, to keep guides working reliably, Steadie does send limited technical and usage data to our servers as described below.

🔒
Information We Collect

Personally Identifiable Information

Steadie does not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information. No account or sign-up is required.

Technical & Device Information

When you use Steadie, the following technical information is automatically collected via Google Firebase Analytics:

This helps us ensure guides work correctly across different devices.

Guide Usage Data

To monitor and improve guide quality, Steadie collects anonymous events about how guides perform:

These events do not include the content of your messages, your contacts, or any personal information visible on screen.

Anonymous Device Identifier

On first use, Steadie generates a random device identifier (UUID). It is not linked to your name or any account — it only lets us group guide-quality reports from the same device. Along with this identifier, a push notification token (FCM token) generated by Google is registered in our database. This token is not currently used: Steadie does not send push notifications to your device.

Guide Alert Data

When guides repeatedly fail on a particular step, an automated alert may be sent to our admin system. This alert includes:

This allows us to fix broken guides promptly when apps update their interfaces. Alerts are reviewed by our team in an internal dashboard; no push notification is currently sent to anyone — and never to your device.

No Screenshots or Screen Recording

The Steadie app available to the public contains no screenshot or screen-recording capability. Guides are created by our team using separate internal tooling — never on users' devices.

🚫
Data We Do NOT Collect

Steadie does NOT collect:

🔒
Accessibility Service Usage

Steadie requires the Accessibility Service permission to function. This powerful permission is used solely to:

We understand this permission provides significant access. Steadie only uses this access to help you navigate apps. Screen element data is processed in real time to position overlays and is not stored or transmitted, except in the limited circumstance described above (guide failure alerts, which describe element structure — not content).

You can disable the Accessibility Service at any time through your device's Settings.

🔒
Data Storage & Security

Local Storage

Cloud Storage

The following data is transmitted to and stored on Google Firebase servers:

Security

All data transmitted to Firebase uses HTTPS encryption in transit. Firebase servers provide encryption at rest. Access to stored data is restricted to authorised administrators.

🌐
Third-Party Services

Steadie uses the following Google Firebase services:

All Firebase services are operated by Google and subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

🗑
Data Retention & Deletion

Analytics data is retained according to Google Firebase's default retention settings (currently 14 months). Guide alert data and anonymous device records are retained as long as they are needed to maintain guide quality.

You can request deletion of any data associated with your device by contacting us at the email below. Because your device's records are anonymous, please include the device reference shown in the app under Settings → About — it is the only way we can identify which records are yours. (Using "Contact Support" in the app fills it in for you.) Note that when you email us, we necessarily see your email address alongside that reference in our support mailbox — we use it only to answer you and act on your request, and we do not add it to the app's stored data. Uninstalling the app removes all local data from your device and stops all collection. Turning off Steadie's Accessibility Service stops the guide-related collection described above; basic app-usage analytics (such as the app being opened) may still be collected by Firebase while the Steadie app itself is used.

👶
Children's Privacy

Steadie is designed for adults, particularly older adults who want assistance navigating smartphone apps. The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
